Psalm 14:1
A Spotlight on the Scriptures
This is a spotlight on the Scripture: Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.
In the Bible, the term "fool" doesn't mean someone who is intellectually weak or an idiot, as we commonly think. In Psalms, 14:1 "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God'. This means that wicked and ungodly actions deny God's existence. In Scripture, pride and conceit that reject Christ are called folly. The apostle Paul says, "The world did not know God through wisdom; it pleased God to save those who believe through the foolishness of preaching" (1 Corinthians 1:21).
Isaiah speaks of bad men as "a people of no understanding; therefore, He who made them will not have mercy on them" (Isaiah 27:11). This doesn't mean their lack of understanding is a natural, unavoidable condition. Job clarifies that true understanding is "the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding" (Job 28:28). Listen all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Therefore, our only hope is the grace of God and the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. This is a spotlight on the Scripture
